hey anonnnnn, the short answer, yes sometimes.
I do not run to compensate, I run because it makes me feel like a powerful human being.
A little background:
I was a skinny kid
I got heavier in high school
In college I lost 30 lbs. I was working out multiple times a day, living the low, fat, low calorie sugar free aka fake sugar life. I was very skinny. I loved how i looked but i was compulsive about food. I counted every calorie religiously. It consumed me. It wasn’t sustainable.
Then I fell in love with running, I NEEDED more because I was burning more. I eventually stopped counting calories and Ive been hovering around my current weight for years.
I could stand to lose a few lbs but i currently eat whatever i want and I like that freedom, i LOVE FOOD.
I’m not a stress eater, i’m the opposite, when my husband was sick I stopped eating and lost 10 lbs the month he was in the hospital BUT i am a BOREDOM eater…. i seem to be convinced im starving whenever i’m bored. so annoying.
A few obstacles I deal with in terms of food and weight… I’m a vegetarian so sometimes i lean heavier on carbs because I love them and its easy…. 2, I have Ulcerative Colitis which makes it hard for me to digest vegetables so times when i over indulge a little i have to find healthy ways to get back to normal that don’t involve daily salads and tons of fruits and veggies. even though I Love fruits and veggies… i can only eat them in moderation… stupid COLON!
Change your mindset. Educate yourself. Stay positive. Cut shitty people off. Eat healthy. Focus on your goals. Spend some time alone. Read books. Drink more water. Take care of your skin.
Anyone can dream.
Are you committed?Anyone can train hard.
Do you have the discipline to recover?Anyone can follow a diet.
Can you make exceptions and remain confident?Anyone can react to a move.
Can you be the one that makes it?Anyone can show good sportsmanship.
Can you be genuinely happy for your competitors?Anyone can fail.
Can you do so without feeling like a failure?Anyone can talk.
Can you listen?
It’s about feeling strong, confident, unstoppable, badass, and beautiful in your own skin.
I’m actually disappointed by how many people reblog this and add “but looking good is an added benefit.” No. You are missing the point. I am saying that looks do not matter. It makes it seem that we associate a certain body type with beauty. This is so wrong. Beauty can be any shape, colour, and size.
Fitness is NOT ABOUT LOOKING GOOD. It is about feeling good, beautiful, confident, strong, badass, and unstoppable NO MATTER WHAT YOU LOOK LIKE!
Motivation is shit when you think about it. It’s fleeting, inconsistent, and unreliable. Commitment. That’s what it takes. Make the decision to better yourself every single day. Don’t rely on motivation, rely on your desire and determination to not stay where you are.
